Background: Sunday's at 6:50 PM in Germany means it's time for "Lindenstrasse". Each week since December 8, 1985, the TV show has drawn millions of viewers eager to see what's in store for the show's ensemble.
The task: to make sure that those who cannot receive ARD don't miss an episode of the cult series. As early as 1999, Geißendörfer Film- und Fernsehproduktion KG aimed to broadcast the series in the Internet.
Our solution: The television show "Lindenstrasse" was already accessible from anywhere in the world back in 1999. Even today, you only need an Internet connection to access the last five episodes.
We digitalise the current episode in uncompressed form from Digibeta and elaborately process the file for optimum web viewing. The file is then transcoded into Real, WM, Flash, and 3GPP. The file is delivered via central servers. Using load balancing, we ensure that the servers are not overloaded, even if there are many requests. In addition, we also individually process usage data for a detailed log file analysis.
